Vazba There is / there are se používá tehdy, když něco popisujeme. Po vazbě  There is (jednotné číslo) vždy následuje neurčitý člen a/an!!!

Kladné věty:
There is a book on the table. ( Na stole je kniha.) 

There are two pens in the pencil case. (V penálu jsou dvě pera.)

Záporné věty:
There isn't a book on the table. (Na stole není kniha)

There aren't two pens in the pencil case. ( V penále nejsou dvě pera)

Otázky a odpovědi:

Is there a book on the table? ( Je na stole kniha?)

Yes, there is. / No, there isn't. (Ano, je. / Ne, není.)

Are there two pens in the pencil case? (Jsou v penále dvě pera?)

Yes, there are. / No there aren't. (Ano, jsou. / Ne, nejsou.)
